Treatment
This last Tuesday, July 9th, was my thirteenth immunotherapy treatment and the treatment process went just fine. This time around, my treatment room was right next to the nurses’ desk and they didn’t bother closing the room door, so we chatted a little since I’ve gotten to know many of them over the time I’ve been coming in. One of the nurses at the desk had expressed in the past that she thought my last name “Sounded cool, like it should be a book character’s last name.”
I had also mentioned to this same nurse previously that my wife had bought us a 1ft x 1ft plot of land in Ireland, which came with a certificate saying that as land owners, we could officially call ourselves “Lord and Lady” (if we wanted to.) So, the nurse was telling this story to her coworkers while we were all conversing, and one of the others said “What?! That’s so much fun! I know what my husband is getting this Christmas! How do you do this?” So apparently there will be at least one, maybe a few nurses at that hospital who are going to gain a title as well, ha ha!
Tornadoes!
The trip home was interesting because on the way home, I hit some pretty heavy rainfall twice during my 2 hour drive. When I finally got home, the air raid/storm sirens were going off the moment I got out of of the car. Confused, I looked around the sky but it was only about 10% cloudy and otherwise sunny. Concerned by the lack of visible storm clouds, I soon found out that there was a tornado on the ground in a nearby city, so I was thankful to have just gotten home and to be with my family.
As it turns out, there were 6 tornadoes in the area that afternoon. The one I heard about first was rated EF-3. There was also an EF-2 on the ground for about eight miles in another neighboring city, and the other four were rated EF-1. Thankfully, though the twisters caused a significant amount of damage, so far I am not aware of any deaths or injuries reported.
